Doctors are annoying

So, I called the endocrinologist about the episodes with my blood sugars, and they basically told me that it is not that big of a deal, because my sugars did not drop below 60. They told me to keep taking the medication. I tried again yesterday, I took half a pill, ate my lunch, went for a bike ride with my hubby and the dog, and by the time I got home, an hour after eating, my blood sugars were down to 66. Luckily, we were home, I had decided to make the biking trip a bit shorter than normal, because I felt something was not right, and I went in the house and laid down. I also had a snack, because it was snack time. The nurse that I talked to at the endocrinologists told me that I shouldn't eat anything extra unless my sugar levels drop below 60. I asked if that meant that I was to go through the rest of my pregnancy on the couch, because I am taking the medication, and she said that I shouldn't do that, and we could always switch to insulin. Needless to say it was not what I wanted to hear, and just made me angry. She also said that the dizziness must be from something else in my body, and not the medication, so to call my Ob-gyn. Funny thing though...I only experience this after taking the medication. I called him, but they wouldn't let me talk to him directly. Supposedly he had already left. The nurse that they had me talk to was no help, and I was just frustrated by the whole process. To top off my evening, we wanted to go swimming, because I had found a maternity suit that fit, but I wanted to take the dog to the lake with us... there were no lakes that we could find that allowed dogs on the beach or in the water. It is a lake, not a swimming pool!!!!! All in all a very frustrating afternoon/evening. My wonderful husband did try to make my night better, by making me a delicious supper that was within the diet restrictions! I'm supposed to get a call from the Ob-gyn this morning, but I have not heard from him as of yet, and it is almost 10 A.M. already. We'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted!

Blood Sugar Scare

Okay, so I had a bit of a scare yesterday. I was doing what the endocrinologist wanted me to do, and I took a whole pill of Glyburide ( Medication for gestational diabetes ) 30 minutes before eating supper. That was a very bad idea. I got dizzy, was really off balance, clammy, and saw dots in my vision. My blood sugars dropped to where they are supposed to be in the morning, after not eating all night, an hour after I ate. I had some food to try to raise my sugars, but the medicine was working really well, and it took 3 hours to get me back to where I could stand up, and not feel like I was going to fall over. The only problem with all of that was that I was home alone, so the lesson that I learned was that until I understand what the medication is going to do to me, I will only take it when there is someone around to help me, just in case. I'm doing better this morning, but will probably take it a bit slower today.
On a happier note, I cut out and finished a really cute dress for my little one yesterday, before all of the fun ensued with my body! The dress is a deep blue with dolphins swimming on it! I made it big, so she can wear it next summer when she will be walking/ running/ falling around! It really is too cute! I might have to figure out how to put pictures on here to show you!

Baby and me update

So, this is my first attempt at blogging. My precious little bundle of joy is attempting to kick and punch her way out now. My tummy actually gets sore from all of the movement! I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes, and am watching my diet like a hawk! Constantly eating has been my frustration. I never seem to get a break from eating. I have to eat, even when I am not hungry! Oh well. I have 9 weeks to go until my due date, and I am ecstatic that the number of weeks left are now in the single digits! Yeah! I am sleeping through the night for the most part, and am loving that! Josh is working tons of hours to prepare for our beautiful daughter, and to make it possible for me to stay home. I have gone a bit nuts with the cleaning. I seem to think that everything needs to have a deep cleaning, and I am obsessing about things being in order again, before I go to bed each night. For those of you who know me at all, this is not my personality. If things are not perfect before I go to bed, so be it. I may or may not get to them the next day, erring on the not getting to them side. I am swiffering/vacuuming/sweeping/mopping every day, dusting every two days, and continuing to clean new rooms all of the time. My mother would be sooo proud of all of the cleaning! People are telling me that it is nesting, and that this is normal, but for me, this is not normal, in any way, shape, or form. The house does look nice though, and I am enjoying that... Until my next blog...
